We will only collect information from you that we require in order to provide you with the most relevant information for your interests.

We email you with different types of communication:

  • General Ocean Changemakers newsletters

  • Related news from our friends, sponsors and partners

  • Direct emails to you, answering specific questions you’ve asked

  • Targeted emails based around your interests, ie Changemaker workshops for boat owners.

All our electronic newsletters contain an ‘Unsubscribe’ link offering you the opportunity to decline to receive further information if you so wish. Or, email we will unsubscribe for you. We have no wish to send you information which you do not want to receive, so please get in touch with us if you have any concerns about data or you need to update your contact details.


The information we collect

Individuals who sign up to our mailing list through our website or at events will have the data they give to us collected – this will always include your email address, but could also include your name, telephone number, interest areas and where you heard about us.

If you add yourself to the collaboration map, we will also hold information on the location of you and/ or your business.


If you email us, your name and email address might be collected so we can send you relevant information at a later date related to your initial email.

Your data is collected by Ocean Changemakers  and will be retained and used for the purposes outlined in this privacy statement until a time that you request it to be deleted or you opt out. This is held securely by Ocean Changemakers and will not be shared with third parties without your informed consent.

Ocean Changemakers may, at times, provide aggregated, anonymous data to sponsors and other third parties. This data will not be able to be linked to any individual.  Any data that is shared is used to give our partners information on the demographic and reach of the Ocean Changemaker tools. We will not sell or lease your information to any other party. If this policy is changed at any time in the future we will notify all members by email, and provide you with an opportunity to opt out of this release of information if you so wish.


Third party links

We will sometimes share third-party links with you, in order to promote collaboration opportunities and the sharing of relevant ocean or plastics news. We take no responsibility for the privacy policies on these third party websites.
